JOE IVACIC

The orchids and the pitcher plants are intended to bring the viewer in, similar to how these magnificent plants attract insects.  Either due to scent or appearance, these plants always know who their target audience is and seems to get what they need. I enjoy the dichotomy of the two plants because one lures to procreate while the other lures to destroy and consume.  In my artistic vision the orchids or “The Beauty” represents what nature has been able to reclaim by over growing man’s destruction.  The pitchers plants “the Beast” reflect revenge or the destruction of man to nature. This body of work was inspired by my travels throughout South East Asia.
